In which, sisters are amazing.
Apr 12th
I was down in UCSD to visit my sister since she was performing in a school musical. She’s by far the most theatrically talented person I’ve known and will probably ever know. She’s amazing. And Beautiful!

We didn’t have a lot of time but I did get to go to the San Diego Safari. Personally, I liked the San Diego Zoo much better. Then again, you can never not have fun in a zoo. … Except when you get pooped on at the aviary. Yes, it was this little guy, I believe.
Photo-tachometry!

PhotoTachometery! (For my non-engineering friends, that’s not a real term)
Anyway, life at a startup is great. We shell out a couple grand for equipment but most of the time use it for non work-related projects. I guess you can say that I’m on google time.
So, I’ve currently held a Tachometer hostage:

Yup. I’m not giving this baby up for a while.
Across the Universe
Aug 25th
The fate of the Universe was decided in two minutes. But me? .. It took me an hour to drive to the hills, another hour to get this shot, not to mention, an entire week of patiently waiting for the moon to leave the sky enough to capture this shot. By any standard, I’m unremarkable. So the only thing I could think of to do today was to capture something remarkable.
And here it is:

iPhone Macro Lens Hack
Jul 29th
Don’t lie– you’d kill for great macro images on your iPhone. But fret not, as there exists a fairly simple hack.
Because the point of focus is beyond the image, we will need a positive lens to pull the point of focus towards us. Typically, any double- or plano- convex lens will do. These are very easy to find as they exist in throwaway cameras. In it, you will find a series of simple tiny lenses which you can put in front of your phone’s camera for optimal focus.
Here’s the best part though… I keep a few lenses in the coin section of my wallet so that I can have instant access to good macro images wherever I go. That makes me “cool” right? No? Well, wait until you see my before and after images:

So there you have it. I’m cool.
The man and the pregnant goose
Jul 26th
I would go a long ways to take a great photo, yes, but rarely is the story behind each composition as interesting as the composition itself. One look at this, and it takes all the ’sass’ in me away. I’m completely humbled by this moment.

If I could spend an eternity somewhere…
Jul 23rd
Vegas last weekend, Yosemite this weekend — it’s the opposites of worlds brought close together. Vegas is always incredible fun, but it is still a modern mockery of the past. Yosemite, you are soul and character, the way I need it.
A very beloved co-worker asked me to post this picture somewhere. So it is here. But only because I was forced to.
